AFTER a good regatta at the Princess Sofia, Palma it was a busy couple of weeks training in Weymouth and Portland before I headed off to Boltenhagen, Germany for the 2012 Laser Worlds.

The Laser Worlds started on Thursday and I’m looking for a repeat performance of 2010 (where I won gold). On reflection, Palma was a good regatta with progress on the things we had been working on.

Starting was a primary goal and it was a little disappointing to pick up an OCS during one of my races, but after a good look at the video it may have been a little unjust!

You have to deal with things you can’t control and the remainder of the regatta was good. Things didn’t quite go my way in the medal race but I finished with silver so overall pleased.

It has been good to get out on the Olympic waters and now with less than 80 days to go it’s getting very exciting.

At times it has been pretty tough – it’s been very cold and windy so it’s been tiring training and the days seem to disappear so quickly.

However, last week I had my first full day off in ages.

It was then back out training in the Laser for a few days followed by a big pack up before the van with all the kit and my laser headed out to Germany.

Exciting times ahead.
