ROB Semmence and Dom Cosserat triumphed for the second successive week in the Weymouth ‘Go Spike’ Beach Volleyball League.

The final on this occasion saw them come up against Jules Stout and Mike Powell, who had battled past Craig Bishop and Stephen Williamson in the last four.

The showpiece was a close run affair with both teams holding the lead at different times until Semmence and Coss-erat pulled away at 10-apiece to eventually take the match 15-10.

In the B final, the up-and-coming duo of Mat Palmer and Hayden Francis secured their first win of the season with victory over Mat Board and Laura Stone.

However, once again, it was another narrow success with Palmer and Francis edging through 15-13 to secure promotion to next week’s A Series.

The ‘Go Spike’ league takes place every Tuesday on the beach on the permanent courts and is open to all players of any standard who can compete for just one week or play every week.

Entry is £4 per player and players need to register by 6.30pm.

Weymouth Beach Volleyball Club also launched their Under-16 coaching sessions last week, which are free of charge and take place from 5-6pm.

These sessions, led by Level Two coaches, will go on for the next six weeks.
