A FORMER Weymouth councillor is hailing the launch of a new secret photography system.

Roger Allen says the Stalker application for iPhones brings sleuth-like spy photography to the streets.

Mr Allen runs the Poole-based Zeta Digital Agency which has launched the app.

It allows people to sneakily take photos while pretending to be on the phone or reading a text message.

It’s meant as a bit of fun but also can be used for candid street photography.

Stalker has been translated into several languages and is being launched worldwide.

Mr Allen, who served on Weymouth and Portland Borough Council from 2008-11 and has since moved to Poole, stressed that Stalker was intended for entertainment and artistic use only and should not be used for illegal purposes.

He said: “Stalker is a great tool for fun, social and practical use. Whether you need to photograph a number plate or take a crafty picture in an art gallery, Stalker is for you.

“The concept of this app and marketing strategy to take it worldwide – initially translated into Mandarin, Japanese, Russian and Arabic – I think demonstrates the positive, innovative approach of Zeta.”

Stalker has been approved by Apple and is available for iPhone users to buy from the Apple store. If you want to try it see stalker-app.com
