There will be double celebrations in Dorset this jubilee weekend with events to mark Thomas Hardy’s 172nd birthday.
The Thomas Hardy Society is putting on a number of activities to mark the famous novelist’s birthday on Saturday, June 2.
There will be a three-mile walk starting at Sherborne Abbey at 10.30am followed by a lecture at the Dorford Centre, in Dorchester, at 3.30pm.
After the lecture there will be a wreath-laying at Hardy’s statue in the town.
