GIVE and take is the secret to one Weymouth’s couple’s 60 happy years together.
Don and Sylvia Ramsey, of Weymouth, were married on June 14, 1952, and lived most of their lives in the South Norwood area of London, before falling in love with Weymouth and moving here 17 years ago.
The couple met in a London park where Mr Ramsey was playing cricket. They were together for three years before getting engaged and together for another two years before they got married.
Mr Ramsey, 82, said: It was the finest thing I ever did getting married, absolutely.”
Mrs Ramsey said their secret to happiness was talking to each other. She said: “I think it’s a lot of give and take really. You have to listen to each other to make sure you are doing the right thing. You talk things over.”
The couple have two sons, Nigel and Paul, and will be celebrating the big day with a party in Croydon with their family.
Nigel now lives in Canada and will be coming over for the party and then Mr and Mrs Ramsey will return with him to Canada for a holiday.
