AN ILLEGAL worker has been removed from the UK and four more remain in detention following raids in Blandford.
Seven illegal workers in total, all men from Bangladesh, were found by the UK Border Agency at three restaurants in the town.
A 21-year-old man who stayed illegally after his student visa expired has been removed after he was found working at Simla restaurant. A 40-year-old failed asylum seeker found working there was not detained but arrangements are being made for his removal.
Three others, aged 25, 28 and 38 found working at Simla remain in detention along with a 33-year-old man arrested in a raid at Bay Leaf restaurant.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old was arrested in a raid at Spice India. He was later released but will be removed from the country later.
The restaurants could face fines of up to £10,000 per illegal worker. Bay Leaf will not be fined as it was able to show that checks were made on the worker found there.
