THE Weymouth Relief Road has been nominated for an award.
Skanska’s scheme for Dorset County Council, which was completed last year, has been nominated for the regional Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) Civil Engineering Project of the Year Award.
The £89million road was designed to improve journey reliability between Dorchester and Weymouth.
There are a record 24 entries in this year’s awards and other Dorset entries include Charmouth Footbridge, Twin Sails Bridge Link Road in Poole and Slades Farm Cycle Track, Bournemouth.
ICE South West Regional Director Trish Johnson said: “The objective of the awards is to recognise construction projects completed in 2011 of particular merit, physical achievement, innovation or ingenuity.”
ICE South West’s 2012 Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be held at the Marriott Royal Hotel in Bristol on Friday.
