Flying the flag

Portland Town Councillor Sandy West proudly promoted the borough’s Olympic Sailing events while at a Walmart Shareholders Meeting in Arkansas, America.

Sandy, who works at Asda store in Weymouth, part of the Walmart group, took 150 Bring on the Games stickers across the pond to celebrate Portland’s role in the London 2012 Games.

The enthusiastic supporter of the home Olympics is giving up her time to volunteer at the big event as a Weymouth and Portland Ambassador and Games Maker.

Sandy said: “The stickers went down a storm in the towns of Bentonville and Fayetteville.

“I talked to the Americans about Team GB sailing and the Olympics here.

“I felt very proud to be ‘Flying the Flag’ for team GB Sailing.”
