How I totally agree with Doug Milne (Echo, May 30), regarding prom cyclists.
I do believe many years ago it was illegal to cycle on pavements.
Yet clearly this has not been obeyed. I for one have been hit by a speeding cyclist outside our front door and suffered bruising as the cyclists carried on at great speed, as many do, with total disregard for pedestrians.
I and many others have had close near misses with them. The police cannot be bothered to enforce this law and go after them – perhaps because they have four wheels where cyclists have two?
I can understand it is very risky riding on main roads and indeed scary – but they speed past you like you’re in their way. Shout at them and as expected in today’s sad decaying society verbal abuse is shouted back at you, along with fingers up!
