A WOMAN was attacked in broad daylight in a car park on a busy Weymouth road.

An investigation is underway after the victim, believed to be in her 40s, was confronted in the residents’ car park of Marcel Court, Newstead Road, yesterday afternoon.

The woman, an employee at the Spar convenience store to the front of Marcel Court on Abbotsbury Road, was attacked at around 4.30pm.

It is believed she ran back in to the shop and pressed the panic button to summon police immediately after the attack took place.

Police confirmed that an incident had taken place and cordoned off the car park at the back of the block of flats.

A red car, parked close to the building, was also cordoned off behind the police tape.

Crime Scene Investigators were on scene to establish what had taken place.

A Dorset Police spokesman could not confirm if anything had been taken from the Russian woman, but said that they were conducting an ongoing investigation.

It is believed that the woman was involved in a tussle with two men during the incident.

Another employee at the shop said: “I was in here serving customers when she came running in.

“She was talking in Russian and I couldn’t understand.

“I kept saying ‘I don’t understand, what’s happened? What’s happened?’ “She was so pale and there was something wrong with her head behind her ear.

“She pressed the panic button and went off in to the back of the store and soon the police were here.”

It is understood that the victim sustained no serious injuries.

A spokesman at the Spar store said that she was helping police with their inquiries and described her condition as ‘okay’.
