A HISTORY centre is holding an exhibition on jubilee celebrations through the ages to mark this month’s events.
Dorset History Centre, in Dorchester, is staging the royal exhibition until June 28 to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
It looks at what makes jubilee celebrations so memorable, from the first modern celebration for King George III to this summer’s events.
Visitors are able to view rarely seen photos, documents and objects which commemorate the history behind these royal events in Dorset.
The Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers opened the exhibition where there is the chance to find out what unique celebrations happened across villages and towns in Dorset 10, 35 or even 150 years ago.
Visitors are also invited to share their memories in a special online guestbook recording jubilee events around the county.
This digital archive will form part of the exhibition and will become part of the permanent collection at the Dorset History Centre.
The exhibition is be free and open from 9am to 5pm Tuesday to Friday and 9am to 4.30pm on Saturday.
