A Dorchester councillor and her former colleague will be plunging from the sky in the name of charity.

Long-serving town and district councillor Stella Jones will be joined by Sue Pharoah, who she used to work with at Damers First School, for a charity sky dive.

The pair have agreed to jump out of a plane together at Honiton on Saturday June 30 as they each look to raise funds for causes close to their hearts.

Stella will be raising money for Cancer Research UK as her family has been affected by cancer and Sue, whose mother and mother-in-law suffered from Alzheimer’s, will be taking sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Stella, who has served on the town council for over 30 years and twice represented the county town as mayor, said: “We used to work together at Damers First School and we have both been talking about doing it for a long time and decided we were going to get on and do it.”

Sue, who has lived in Dorchester for over 20 years and now works as a nurse, said she was looking forward to the sky dive, although she admitted she was a little scared.

Anyone wishing to sponsor Stella can go online and do so at www.bmy charity.com/stella or you can call her on 01305 264335.
