A SUPERMARKET in Dorchester is looking for good causes in the community to support.
Waitrose, in Tudor Arcade, has more than 100 staff ready and willing to volunteer with local charities or organisations.
As part of the store’s Community Matters program, there are 200 hours of volunteering which need using up before the end of the year. Mark Andre, store manager, said that no one had come forward so far this year in order to nominate a cause.
He said: “This is a new addition to the scheme and I think people don’t realise we’re doing it. There were 250 hours allocated for this year and we’ve only used up 50 so far helping with the Olympics.
“We’re looking for more local causes to support with man-hours. There are 160 people working at the store and they all have a unique skill that could be put to good use. In other parts of the country volunteers have repainted a youth centre or helped out in charity shops.”
To nominate a good cause contact Mark on 01305 268420 or visit Dorchester Waitrose.
