I MUST reply to Francesca Bell’s letter ‘let’s stop all the negativity’.
I am not at all surprised at the ‘backlash’ of comments her letter received.
Weymouth residents, like any other community in this country have reasons to whinge about changes around them, but for goodness sake why don’t they leave the comfort of their desks/ homes and get to the council meetings to make their concerns known in a positive and constructive way instead of constant moans in the local press?
How can that method be conducive to change?
Having had the opportunity to live and work in many towns and cities in England since leaving my family home in Weymouth in the late 70s I can vouch that there aren’t too many places finer than Weymouth to live and work in!
It’s a source of huge pride for me to tell my friends and colleagues that the Olympics are coming to my home town.
I just hope that the majority of Weymouth and Portland residents welcome all the visitors in a positive way and are proud of what’s on their doorstep.
I for one am looking forward to coming home soon and marvelling at the view of the lasers shining on the bay from the comfort of my sister’s home.
