POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in North Dorset.
The 35-year-old lorry driver from Salisbury was subject to an unprovoked attack in a lay-by in Walton Elm, Marnhull, police said.
He sustained a single stab wound to the stomach and was taken to Dorset County Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The incident occurred just after 10am on Monday when an unknown offender attacked the lorry driver.
The victim had making deliveries in a blue Mercedes lorry when he pulled in on the B3092 and left the vehicle for a break.
It is believed the wound was caused by a sharp or bladed object.
Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple said: “This is an extremely serious assault and we are working hard to establish what the motive may have been and who may have committed such an attack.
“We would like to speak to anyone who was driving or walking past the lay-by at around 10am. We are particularly keen to identify any vehicles that were parked in the lay-by.”
