THE British Sailing Team is gearing up to compete at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Great Britain is the world’s top Olympic classes sailing nation with the British Olympic team sailors topping the medal table at the past three Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008.

In a Dorset Echo column, Team GB sailing athletes and their Royal Yachting Association support crew are bringing an insight into the campaign for glory in 2012.

Here’s team meteorologist Libby Greenhalgh.

WHAT a lovely sunny Sunday to be greeted with back here in Weymouth – I’m obviously going to slip in something about the weather- it is what I do after all!

The team has returned after a much deserved and well earned three day rest at our holding camp, to get ready for the Games.

Pretty much all the boats are in, measurement will start this week for most, and all classes with supplied kit have acquired, polished and named their new kit for the Olympics.

I would like to thank Nick Dempsey for naming his board after me – at least that is what I like to think! – check the Build Up Gallery on www.rya.org.uk/london2012/ for images.

Anyway, it would be remiss of me to not enlighten you a little on some of the things we got up to on the holding camp as I am not sure I have ever laughed and smiled quite as much, and nor have I been out my comfort zone as much as when asked to play Sissy Runaway Saloon Girl in a Murder Mystery evening!

Those pictures will be marked confidential and I am afraid for those eyes that were there only!

As part of our three days we did some rather novel team building, one activity of which I would have to recommend just for pure comedy value- though obviously we also worked well as a team!

Duck herding – thank you Kate Macgregor. I will have that fiver because yes, they were real ducks!

Finally we travelled back with team players in place to return to a very 'GB' looking home. The buzz is building, the sun is shining, so let the Games begin!
