IRISH sailor Peter O’Leary, who is competing in the Olympic sailing events in Weymouth and Portland, is being investigated over allegations of a betting scandal.
The ethics watchdog of the International Olympics Committee (IOC) has confirmed it is investigating the case.
The allegations are that Mr O’Leary had bet on a rival in a race in the Beijing Olympics.
It is alleged that Mr o’Leary placed two successful bets on an opponent he was competing against in 2008 and brought a winning return of close to €4,000.
