I feel compelled to write to say ‘thank you’ to all concerned for a wonderful day in Weymouth last Saturday. Months ago a friend said she intended to go to Weymouth to experience the Olympics and I was not really interested. However I later decided I ought to go as it was a ‘once in a life time’ event.
Like many although not a sportsperson myself I have been drawn into the Olympic Games by the advertising and brilliant TV build up and coverage.
I began to really look forward to going to Weymouth and I was not disappointed – in fact the day far exceeded my expectations.
We spent time on the beach watching the big screens throughout the day. We went up the Tower. We went for a short boat trip to view the racing. We used local outlets for refreshments. We walked around Weymouth – it looked brilliant. Everyone we met was genuinely cheerful, friendly, efficient and enthusiastic. Officials, ie security staff, ambassadors, etc, were approachable and really willing to help. The town and facilities remained clean and litter free – we finally left the beach at 10pm. The detail of the arrangements was evident but the atmosphere was relaxed and celebratory.
We could not fault our Olympic experience. Our sincere thanks to ALL concerned.
