THE biker tragically killed in the first fatal collision on the new Weymouth Relief Road has been named.
An inquest has been opened into the death of 39-year-old Scott Emerson Rose, from Dorchester , who died in the crash on the A354 last Friday.
Mr Rose was a former student of St Aldhelm’s School in Sherborne.
He died when his blue Kawasaki motorcycle was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Renault Scenic carrying a Weymouth couple.
The 52-year-old driver and his 50-year-old wife were seriously injured as a result of the crash and were released from their car by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service and taken to Dorset County Hospital .
Mr Rose died at the scene.
Dorchester Mayor Andy Canning expressed his sympathy for Mr Rose’s family.
He said: “Obviously our thoughts and sympathies are with his family, partner and friends and everyone who knew him.
“It’s always a tragedy when anyone loses their life, especially when it is totally unexpected.”
The chairman of the Dorchester and West Dorset Advanced Motorcyclists’ group Jim Hill said: “As fellow motorcyclists we were saddened to hear of the tragic death of Scott Rose and wish to express our deepest sympathy to all involved in this terrible incident. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to Scott’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
