A COW became stuck in the mud on a common in east Dorset.
Fire crews were called in at 7.46pm yesterday to assist the animal as its back legs were trapped in a waterlogged ditch at the common, off Wimborne Road, Poole.
Firefighters from Wimborne and the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service animal and technical rescue crews from Poole attended.
A spokesman said they found one adult cow stuck to the top of its legs and managed to free it by 8.56pm using an animal halter, a rope and ‘pulling it out by the nose’, assisted by a vet and the farmer.
A representative of Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) also attended.
