EVERYTHING is geared up and raring to go for Weymouth’s Beach Motocross Champion-ships this weekend.

Organisers of the popular annual event, backed by the Echo, said they have got everything in place for a great weekend of motorsport on the beach.

Alf Stearn, chairman of Purbeck Motocross Club, said there are around 200 entries for the races and confirmed superbike star Martin Jessop will be competing on Weymouth’s sands.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a number of events and entertainment which have been organised over the whole weekend.

Richard Burgess, president of Weymouth and Portland Lions, said: “Buying a programme this year is really good value since it gives you access to discounts for the Sealife Tower.

“It also tells you all you ever need to know about Motocross.

“So you can have great fun and be contributing to Lions good causes at the same time.”

He added: “Why not pop down to the Esplanade this weekend and enjoy the fun, whether it be on the Saturday to enjoy the entertainment we have laid on for the afternoon, when you could also visit the West Dorset Beer Festival in the pavilion at the same time, and possibly a ride up the Sealife Tower using our promotional offers afterwards. Or come down to see some serious fast and furious competition on Sunday with even more stalls and attractions.”

Discount coupons for Danters Funfair, which will be at the Jubilee Clock, are also available in the Echo.

There will also be a range of stalls ranging from hot food to ladies fashions and specialist motorcycle equipment. These will include charity stalls for Weldmar, the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance and the National Trust’s Jurassic Coast Promotional Unit.

The Mount Pleasant Park and Ride will be operating on both Saturday and with and there will be additional motorbike parking at the Swannery car park.
