A METAL detectorist discovered a hoard of coins dating back over 2,000 years, an inquest was told.
An inquest was held at County Hall in Dorchester into a treasure report of a find by Jason Hemmings at Ower moigne.
Mr Hemmings, from Weymouth, had discovered the 16 sliver and copper coins using a metal detector between December 2009 and January 2010 and reported the find to the coroner.
West Dorset Coroner Michael Johnston said that due to the age and precious metal content of the coins they would be declared as treasure.
