SOUTH Dorset’s Labour Party is celebrating after being given an award for its election campaign.

South Dorset Constituency Labour Party was awarded the Labour South West’s Best Practice Award for Campaigning 2013 for its work, particularly in the May 2013 local elections when five seats were won.

The award was presented by party leader Ed Miliband to chairman Richard Baker, campaigns officer Dan Brember and organiser Rachel Rogers at a regional party fundraising event in Bristol.

Winners of the yearly awards are determined by the party’s National Executive Committee.

Mr Baker said: “We’re extremely honoured. As Labour Party members, we campaign hard because we care about our community – we don’t do it for awards like this but it is nice to see the hard work of all our volunteers recognised.”
