STAFF and students at a Weymouth school bid a fond farewell to a beloved member of staff.

A surprise party was thrown to give Shirley Earley a big send off after working in the office at St Nicholas and St Laurence Primary School in Weymouth for 28 years.

As well as working in the office, Mrs Earley helped out with a lot of school activities, including school camps – twice going with Year 6 to France on a residential trip. She was also an active participant in PTA events like fetes, Christmas bazaars and sports day.

Mrs Earley’s last day saw staff, ex-staff members and friends surprise her with a party and special assembly in her honour.

Friend and colleague Denise Caves said that everyone would miss Mrs Earley and they all wished her a very happy retirement.

She said that Mrs Earley would have lots of funny memories of her time in school to take away with her.
