A WEYMOUTH couple have become parents for the first time with the birth of their daughter Genevieve Imogen Allen.

Genevieve’s dad Gregory Allen is a crane operator and creative advisor at South Coast Crane Hire in Portland, and mum Cassandra Dear works at Asda in Weymouth.

They welcomed Genevieve’s birth on April 26, 2014, at 02:52am at Dorset County Hospital.

Genevieve weighed just 1.62 kg but Greg said their daughter is already developing a lively personality, adding: “She’s two weeks old now and she’s very quiet until she wants to eat, and then she goes crazy.”

Asked about being a father for the first time, Greg said: “It’s been absolutely awesome. It’s a steep learning curve and it’s been quite overwhelming, but I’m so happy.”

He added: “Cassie is a resident in the hospital along with Genevieve at the moment in the Special Care Baby Unit because they want to make sure Genevieve puts weight on, and Cassie needs rest because she’s shattered. But they’re both doing very well and I’m really looking forward to bringing them both home soon.”

Both parents want to thank all the nurses in the SCBU at Dorset County Hospital, especially Susan.
