PUPILS from June Hornby’s Dance Studio in Weymouth are jumping for joy after securing places at some of the country’s top dance schools in London.

Imogen Breaks, 11, who attends St Andrew’s School in Preston, was awarded places from several leading ballet schools including the English National Ballet School. She will take on the role of Mid Associate at the Royal Ballet School in London from September.

Viola Turberville-Smith, 12, attends Sunninghill Preparatory School and recently won the most promising junior performer at Weymouth Dance Festival. She has been awarded a place as a Senior Cecchetti Associate at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.

Congratulations are also in order for 18-year-old Adrian Bevan, a pupil from Budmouth College, as he has won a full scholarship for a level 6 diploma in professional musical theatre and dance at Laine Theatre Arts School in Surrey.

Fellow Budmouth College student Joshua Brunell, 18, is also celebrating as he has been accepted to study professional dance and musical theatre at Bird College of Performing Arts in Kent.

June Hornby, a dance teacher for over 40 years, has now seen 20 of her pupils gain places in dance or theatre schools.

She said she was delighted and very proud.
