Learning about life
9:40am Saturday 10th July 2010 in Careers College
Reece Clarke
Today we walked into a classroom full of enthusiastic girls who were all crowded around a rather embarrassed Reece Clarke, 15, from the Wey Valley School.
At first glance he appeared to be pregnant. We found that he was wearing an ‘empathy belly’, a life size interpretation of a pregnant woman's body!
We then interviewed Abbie Barnes, 15, from The Thomas Hardy School. Abbie giggled: “I found this workshop really interesting as in the future I am considering working as a child carer.”
As we walked around the classroom, we came across Meg Vincent-Pearsall, from Woodroffe School, Lyme Regis, who was attempting to change a baby’s nappy.
She said: “I’ve learnt a lot from this workshop. I’ve really enjoyed it and would definitely do it again.”
At this point, the baby’s nappy fell off and the look on her face was priceless!
We got involved ourselves by trying on ‘Beer Goggles’, glasses that gave the impression of being in a drunken state.
These were hilarious, and certainly put us off drinking after we fell into a set of lockers!
