A WEYMOUTH school has been given an award recognising its investment in people.

Westfield Arts College has been presented with the Investors in People Gold award.

The award recognises that the school goes above and beyond normal expectations in the way it develops, supports and motivates its team.

The Gold award has been awarded to fewer than 700 organisations in the country.

An organisation can achieve Bronze, Silver or Gold status by meeting additional requirements from across the Investors in People framework.

Headteacher Andrew Penman said “We are thrilled to have received the Investors in People Gold Award.

“We didn’t do any specific preparation for the assessment, so this outcome is an honest reflection of everyday practice at Westfield.”

Chairman of the college Governors, Bruce Bonwell, said: “Congratulations to all concerned for this Investors in People report. “Reports of this quality are only achieved by the combined effort of all the team.”

John Telfer, managing director of Inspiring Business Performance Ltd, the organisation behind Investors in People, said “The current economic climate makes it even more important that an organisation adapts to survive.

“Westfield Arts College is a shining example that proves that organisations can achieve great things during challenging times.

“Being recognised as an Investor in People is becoming increasingly important and the higher the level of accreditation, the better it reflects on your organisation. Westfield Arts College should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
