Christchurch MP Chris Chope has come under the expenses spotlight today for driving a sofa 85 miles for repair work.
The Sunday Telegraph reports Mr Chope transported the Chesterfield Sofa from his second home in London to a tradesman in Christchurch.
The bill to the taxpayer was £881.
The newspaper also reports Mr Chope claimed £10,377 for work to the roof of the London home and £2,600 for a new bathroom.
Mr Chope is quoted as saying he drove the sofa to Christchurch with his wie and the local craftsman offered "value for money."
He said: "We had a Chesterfield that was unserviceable and what were we to do?"
He said the roof and bathroom works were essential repairs.
