A HORSE whisperer will be sharing the secrets of success as he joins forces with a Dorset-based actor.

Monty Roberts will be joined by Martin Clunes at the event, which takes place at Kingston Maurward College this Saturday.

Monty, 81, is based in California and was recently voted one of the top 50 greatest horsemen of all time by Horse & Hound.

He will be working alongside his master trainer, Kelly Marks to demonstrate their methods. Their invaluable tips have helped many thousands of amateurs and professionals alike produce happy and willing equine partnerships.

Some horses are labelled ‘bad’ or ‘difficult’ when the real problem may be that the horse does not understand what’s being asked of him, or is fearful and confused due to inconsistent signals.

Organiser Ele Milwright said: “Monty and Kelly have many years of experience helping horse owners to use their scientifically verified techniques, combined with proven equine psychology to enable them to learn to win trust and true partnership.

“Come and see for yourself how they work with some of the neighbourhood’s trickiest equines. You can even put your own ‘problem’ horse forward for the chance to be part of the demo. Issues might include can’t clip, won’t load, spooky behaviour or bucking or simply just a young horse ready for his first rider. A variety of issues will showcased, but whatever horses are presented, the audience will be shown the key principles and tools that they can then use at home, empowering them to become their own equine problem solvers.”

Mr Clunes will be on hand to assist and demonstrate how the techniques being showcased are achievable by everyone.

Ele added: “Monty will share the secrets of his legendary success with training horses. At 81 years of age, his experience and knowledge are unrivalled, and it is his greatest wish to hand this wealth of expertise on to the next generation.”

The event at Kingston Maurward is one of just two dates in the UK as part of the tour by Monty and Kelly.

The pair have been working together for more than 20 years to help people get the most out of their relationships with their horses.

There will be a half hour intermission at the event where Kelly and Monty will be available to answer questions and sign autographs.
