AN appeal in Looking Back from three years ago has resulted in us receiving this picture, left, from Jess Hartshorne of Chickerell.
She was interested to see the Rose Queen competition as featured in the Looking Back pages of the Echo on August 9, 2011.
The timing for Jess bringing in the photo was spot as, as 2014’s Rose Queen has just been crowned at the St Edmund’s Rose Garden party.
Jess’s husband, the late George Hartshorne, gave the prizes to the lucky Rose Queen and her attendants on this particular year.
Jess said: “I don’t remember which year it was. It was a very hot day and there were lots of people there.”
