CAN anyone help a local author with his research?

Rod Hughes is trying to find out more information about the tragic explosion at the Royal Navy Cordite Factory (RNCF) at Holton Heath on June 23, 1931.

He said: “Although there already exists works about the RNCF in general, there is no comparable work concerning this most tragic aspect of its history.

“The RNCF at Holton Heath is an incredibly important part of the military and industrial heritage of not only Dorset but the whole of the country.

“There can be no denying that the terrible events of the 23rd had a significant effect on the close-knit community of not only the factory itself but of the surrounding environs as well. It is this important aspect, of the social aspect of these events, that forms the central theme of my intended work.”

Rod wants to hear from people who have any recollections of this event which they would be willing to share.

He said: “I would value any written accounts or the opportunity to interview anyone who feels they could help me in the production of my work.

“All contacts would be treated with complete confidentiality.”

Anyone who can help should write to Rod: Mr R. Hughes, 3 Kingsmead, Puddletown, Dorset, DT2 8XH. Call 01305 849039 or email cayanneman@yahoo.co.uk
