A BOOK of memories of village life has been launched.
Remembering Piddletrenthide, compiled by Bridget and Dave Bowen, has been launched in Piddletrenthide.
The book was put together as villagers held regular exhibitions since 2009, bringing in a selection of their photos for use in the collection.
Bridget said: “We’ve had some really glowing feedback for the book.
“Bin Roy, a man in the village who writes books on military history, said ‘what a marvellous book, a particular history of our village and of the characters who lived here’.”
Bridget and Dave, both retired school teachers, have lived in Piddletrenthide for 30 years.
Bridget said: “It was pointed out to us that Piddlehinton had a book and we thought that our village should have one too.
“There are some lovely stories in there like the tale of Piddletrenthide’s war horse and a story about a woman who fostered children no-one else wanted because they had a disability.”
n The 400-page book is now on sale for £20 in paperback and £30 in hardback.
It can be bought from Dorchester TIC, Piddletrenthide Post Office and Stores, Groves Nurseries in Bridport or from Bridget and Dave at Ivy House, Piddletrenthide.
