CAN anyone help identify the location of this rather charming painting of Portland?

Staff at Portland museum recently are trying to find out exactly where in the Wakeham area this Frederick Nash painting is set.

Pennsylvania Castle, Island of Portland, Gateway from Shore to Cliff dates from about 1810.

It currently resides in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, although they could not find reference to it recently, it was photographed in there many years ago.

Lisa Gravett, of the museum, said: "So, we are all wondering, where in the Wakeham area it might be?

"I've got an idea but not sure, having wandered around a bit looking for clues.

"A castle gatehouse by the looks of it but no reference in any books. Another Portland mystery."
