THE search is on to find a man from the above photo in the hope that he can attend the launch of a book documenting the story of the Dorset Regiment.

Michael Bugler, who is pictured on the right, has asked us to try and track down the man on the left of this photo whose name is unknown.

The pair served together in the last uniforms of the Dorset Regiment before they amalgamated as the Devons and Dorsets in 1958.

But who is this mysterious member of the Corps of Drums?

Michael doesn’t remember his name.

The photo was taken in 1956 at the Elisabeth Barracks, Minden, West Germany. If the mystery man can be tracked down, then an invitation will be issued to him to the launch of They Couldn’t Have Done Better, a book on the story of the Dorset Regiment in War and Peace 1939 to 1967, on September 27.

Michael, of Lakeside Gardens, Weymouth, said: “Can any ex- member of the Corps of Drums recognise the chap on the left or indeed himself as we urgently need to trace him.

“The photo is being enclosed in the book.”
