THANKS so much to Christine Ford for getting in touch after recognising herself in this photo of the Weymouth Young Christian Women’s Association, which held its meetings at Sidney Hall.
Christine, nee Wimpory, thought the photo was taken on March 31, 1946 although an edition of Bygone Days from the Dorset Evening Echo in 1985 says the year it was taken was 1940.
She is at the back of the photo on the left hand side.
Christine said there are two lots of sisters in the photo – Betty and Barbara Hillier and Beryl and Betty Adams.
She said: “Miss Reid was leader of the association and her deputy was Doreen Pinnion.
“The association was absolutely fantastic. When we packed up using the Sidney Hall we went to King Street and used a canteen down there which I think is now the bus station.”
Former landlady Christine used to run the Victoria Inn at Knights in the Bottom and the Alexandra Inn at Charlestown.
