Volunteers and countryside rangers have been working together to expand Teddy Bear Woods in Weymouth.

The team planted a selection of trees – including oak, ash, beech and hazel – at the woodland, also known as Horselynch plantation.

Dorset County Council’s Countryside ranger service and Dorset Wildlife Trust held the drop-in planting session to further expand the woodland, following up on a similar event last year.

Dorset Wildlife Trust and Dorset Countryside are working with local schools and community groups to maintain and expand the woodland, conserving the environment and increasing biodiversity to ensure local wildlife can thrive.

Dorset Countryside ranger Lawrence Weston said: “The aim of increasing the area of woodland is to protect and enhance the existing biodiversity of the woodland habitat, and to ensure its long-term sustainability.”
