A DORSET town has launched a new walking guide to tie-in with filming locations for the new Far From the Madding Crowd film.
The Sherborne Visitor Guide was produced by West Dorset District Council’s tourism team and features a map and walking trail showing all the key places to visit and gives information on Sherborne’s history, film and TV locations, attractions and events not to be missed.
The new Thomas Hardy adaptation was partly filmed in the town with locations like the Abbey and the streets transformed into an1870s market square. Other filming locations were in West Dorset and Mapperton House in Beaminster.
Amanda Park, Tourism Development Manager for West Dorset District Council said: “There is a real buzz about Sherborne at the moment with lots of media attention surrounding the release of Far From the Madding Crowd.
"We are looking forward to welcoming many new visitors to the town, inspired by the stunning locations in the film, who wish to discover the real Hardy’s Wessex for themselves.
"In anticipation of the increased interest, we have refreshed our Sherborne Visitor Guide to ensure that visitors are able to make the most of their time in this beautiful Dorset town and enjoy everything that the area has to offer.
