RAISE your mugs – and some money – to support a good cause.

People in Dorset are being urged to take part Weldmar’s Big Dorset Cuppa event on Friday, June 23.

In partnership with Dorset Tea, Weldmar Hospicecare is asking people to hold their own event. You can hold anything from a simple tea party or cake sale to a Bake Off-style event or garden party.

Matt Smith, from Weldmar, said “The Big Dorset Cuppa is a really easy event to get involved with. It’s a great excuse to get your friends, family or colleagues together, have a cup of tea and a slice of cake whilst raising money for Weldmar in the process.

“It’s a piece of cake to take part and every cuppa counts. Whether you raise £10 or £100, it really will make a difference to people right here in Dorset.”

Dorset Tea is the official partner of the event and will supply everyone who registers for a free fundraising pack with a box of tea. Your free fundraising pack will include recipe cards, hints and tips for your event, balloons, posters and flyers.

Matt said “There is such big value to a cuppa, more than people think. For our nurses it is important to allow time for a cup of tea and a chat with our patients, so they can understand their needs and wishes to help plan their care - treating them as a person and not a diagnosis.

“Taking part in The Big Dorset Cuppa will allow our nurses and healthcare professionals care for more patients and their loved ones in Dorset. It really will make a difference.”

Your event can be private or open to the public, and Weldmar Hospicecare staff will be visiting many of the events throughout the day. The main day for the event is Friday, June 23 however Weldmar is encouraging people to hold their event whenever suits them best.

Weldmar will also be holding an ‘open cuppa’ event at Joseph Weld Hospice in Dorchester, details of which will be announced soon on the Weldmar Facebook page – www.facebook.com/weldmar
