Television star Martin Clunes will play a part at the Dorset Chamber Orchestra for Youth Concert on Saturday, March 4.

The concert, at St Mary's Church in Dorchester will feature Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals.

The star of Doc Martin and Men Behaving Badly, who lives near Beaminster, will read the accompanying verse by the modern poet Roger McGough.

Taking part will be several young soloists including pianists Zoe Sones and Columba Dromgoole-Cavazzi both at Southampton University and pupils of Duncan Honeybourne.

Lydia Bennett from the Thomas Hardye School and a member of the National Youth Orchestra will play the solo part in Weber's Bassoon Concerto 3rd movement.

Another work called Ad Astra will be performed by young composer Joe Berry from Bournemouth School for Boys.

The orchestra will feature alone in Praeludium by Jarnefelt and La Plus Que Lente by Debussy, the 100th anniversary of whose death falls on March 25.
