A WOMAN who was trapped for 30 minutes after a crash on Portland sustained serious injuries.
The woman was taken to hospital following the incident in Chiswell on Portland on Sunday evening.
Dorset Police have confirmed that she suffered ‘serious but not life-threatening’ injuries in the crash.
The car involved was reportedly reversing out of a parking bay on Brandy Row when it was in collision with a group of three people walking along the pavement on the other side of the road.
The car ended up crashing into the outside wall of a cottage, with one woman in the group ending up trapped between the underside of the vehicle and the wall.
Police were called to the incident at 4:50pm, and two fire engines and two ambulances also attended the scene.
Crews from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service managed to hoist the car up and release the woman from under it.
Eyewitnesses said they believed the women had been stuck for around half an hour.
Officers confirmed yesterday that the driver of the car was a man aged in his 80s.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
