GUESTS were treated to a tour of a refurbished sports centre.
The final phase of work is now complete at the Purbeck Sports Centre in Wareham.
Guests at a special launch ceremony saw brighter lighting in the sports hall and squash courts, new changing rooms, refurbished corridors and new glass stairwells.
The improvements bring the sports venue into the 21st century and are said to match some of the best venues in the country.
The refurbishment completes a recent modernisation of the centre’s gym, exercise rooms, children’s play area, swimming pool changing rooms, exercise studios, car park and reception area.
Following a ribbon cutting, guests watched international badminton player Chris Coles coach youngsters in the main hall.
Chairman of Purbeck District Council, Bill Trite, said: “The council worked with Dorset County Council, the Purbeck School and Sport England to provide these first-class facilities – an excellent example of partnership working. I encourage everyone to come and use the updated sports centre themselves.”
