ARE you Dorset's answer to Mo Farah or Jessica Ennis-Hill?

Find out in true in true Dorset Style and get your knobs at the ready. Yes, it's almost time for the 2015 Knobalthon.

This year's Dorset Knob Throwing at Cattistock on Sunday, May 3. It’s a lot less strenuous than 10,000 metres or a heptathlon and you could win a superb hamper jammed full of local produce from Cattistock stores.

Pick up your Knobalthon score card on the day and participate in at least five whacky games such as Put the Knob, Guess the weight of the big Knob and of course, the famous Dorset Knob Throwing.

Besides the Dorset Knob Throwing, which involves lobbing the spherical, firm dry savoury biscuit made in Dorset by local bakers Moores, there’s a host of other games including ‘Pin the Knob on the (Cerne) Giant’ and ‘Knob or no Knob’ as well as the crazy Knob and Spoon races and Knob eating contest.

The event includes the Frome Valley Food Fest which will include more than 70 local food producers offering a range of locally produced food including a variety of biscuits, breads, cakes, cheeses, meats game and poultry, pies, preserves, and puddings not to mention a wide selection of locally produced beer, cider, tea, coffee and wine. And there’s a wide range of other country craft and skills stalls, which with attractions such Ferret Racing and Archery all add up to a unique Dorset event.

Nigel Collins, chairman of the Dorset Knob Throwing Committee, said: “This will be the eighth occasion that our community has come together to put on this unique event. Special thanks must go to our two main sponsors who are supporting us:

"Moores, who have produced the famous Dorset Knob since 1860 and have wholeheartedly supported this event from its inception and Dorset Tea which has kindly sponsored The Dorset Tea Marquee."

The festival, which takes place in the Football Field at Cattistock from 10am until 4pm, raises much needed funds for the playing fields, Savill Hall, the cricket club and the Maiden Newton and Cattistock Football Club.

Visitors are advised to approach from the Maiden Newton direction and follow the signs for free car parking.
