Chickerell has a new mayor.
Councillor Lynda Wise was elected to the role at Chickerell Town Council’s annual statutory meeting.
Cllr Wise received the chain of office from Cllr John Dean after serving the previous year.
In her acceptance speech, Cllr Wise said: “I am looking forward to the coming year which is set to be both busy and challenging with some developments coming to an end and others just starting. We will continue to move forward and capitalise on new opportunities such as a new doctors surgery, other food outlets, more housing, Willowbed Hall refurbishment, cemetery extension, crossing for safer roads and a neighbourhood plan.”
She added “Together, our council and community will contrive to keep our town a beautiful progressive safe place to live, call home and be proud of.”
First elected in October 2009, Cllr Wise has served as a town councillor for nine years and was town mayor in the year 2014/2015.
Cllr Jeff Mogg was elected deputy mayor.
Cllr Wise said she would be pleased to receive invitations to local events. For more information visit chickerelltowncouncil.co.uk or contact Mayor’s Secretary, Mo Newport, on 01305 767458.
