THE skies will be lit up this evening as Southill Fireworks marks its 16th year.
Such is the popularity of the event it was forced to move from Southill to Budmouth College last year to accommodate the growing numbers – around 3,000 people regularly turn out. Budmouth will again be the venue for tonight’s event which runs from 6pm to 9pm.
Organiser Jon Gabb says the charity-supporting event is evolving into a whole evening of entertainment – topped off with a spectacular firework display. It originally started as a fireworks party for family and friends at the home of his late father, Maurice.
This year it is supporting the Portland-based Three Ells Trust which was set up to make a difference to the lives of children who have cancer or other life threatening illnesses.
Gates open at 6pm and the display is at 8pm. Entrance is £5 per person and children under 16 go free.
