AN elderly woman has been taken to hospital after an accident on the Jurassic Roundabout in Weymouth this morning.

Three cars were involved in the collision, which happened just after 8am.

The road was blocked but has now been reopened and traffic in the area is easing.

A spokeswoman for the South Western Ambulance Service said one woman in her 70s was taken to Dorset County Hospital for treatment for a knee injury.

Several others were checked over by paramedics at the scene but did not require further treatment.

A spokeswoman for Dorset Police said: "The collision involved a green Nissan Micra registered to a man from Shropshire, a blue Vauxhall Astra registered to a man from Weymouth and a red Vauxhall Saphira registered to a man from Portland.

"The local authority were made aware as there was oil and debris in the road. The vehicles were recovered at around 9.24am."

Two crews from Weymouth Fire Station also attended the incident.
