Music students at Weymouth College are set to rock and roll as they perform their Easter gig.

Second year music technology students have put ‘Amped’ together to showcase first and second year level 3 music students at the Weymouth College Bay Theatre on March 19.

Over forty students will be taking part in the event which feature a variety of performances and genres including drum-n-bass, 80s pop, metal, acoustic pieces and much more.

The event is part of the student’s curriculum to organise an Easter and a summer show to exhibit the student’s musical talents and work in order to give them an experience of the music industry.

Lecturer in music technology and ex hacienda resident DJ Andy Cleeton said: “There are some really good performances and anyone who loves music will really enjoy it. We have got a really good bunch this year, I think some of them will go on to have a really good career.”

“It’s brilliant to see how they have progressed and come into their won. Once we get organised and put on a show they really enjoy it.”

Acting principal of Weymouth College, Nigel Evans, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for our music and music technology students to gain valuable experience and find out for themselves what it takes to be part of a real show. The production will cover music including rock, drum-n-bass and house will really showcase the talents of our students. We’re sure everyone that attends will have a really enjoyable night.”
