CIRCUS OF HORRORS Weymouth Pavilion March 27th

Just five minutes into the show and a naughty dwarf lifts up his kilt and bares all to an audience which responds with a mixture of amusement and revulsion.

Later he would lift a heavy weight with his manhood, open a beer bottle with his eye socket and attach himself to a Henry vacuum cleaner and drag it around the stage. Aaagh! Welcome to the horrordome.

During the frenetic two-hour romp zombies crawl through the auditorium scaring everyone; a tattooed fork-tongued Mohican slides a metal chair leg down his throat; a scantily-clad girl has knives thrown at her as she whizzes around on a wooden wheel; there is a mock execution, fire eating and deafening explosions.

Apart from the shock theatre there are moments of breathtaking skill.

The couple who perform what looked like extreme yoga balancing moves are incredible, as are the slightly disturbing girl zombie twins who pirouette on ribbons suspended high above the stage. A hyperactive troupe of tumblers also thrill with their extraordinary level of athleticism.

All this is performed to a continuous heavy rock soundtrack provided by a great live band dressed as wild haired zombies.

Then there was Sam, pulled from the audience on several occasions by the camp Spock-eared Dracula figure for his 15 minutes of stage fame. Sam had the dubious honour of ending the show miming to ‘Always Look on the Bright Side’ having had his legs removed.

A hell of an entertaining night!
