DORSET is once again proving it's a top travel destination after hotels were praised in the 2016 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.

West Lulworth’s Bindon Bottom B&B has been named 21st in Europe and 11th in the UK, while Bay View Hotel in Weymouth comes in eleventh place in the Bargain category.

Now in their 14th year, the awards honour the world’s most outstanding properties in the categories of Top Hotels, Bargain, B&Bs and Inns, Luxury, Best Service and Small Hotels. Travellers’ Choice award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide.

James Kay from TripAdviser said: “These awards are based on guest feedback gathered throughout the year, so what sets the winners apart is not just a high standard of service and accommodation, but the fact that they deliver this day in and day out.

“Demand for rooms at the winning hotels is likely to rise, so travellers should book early on TripAdvisor to see for themselves why travellers have raved so much about these properties.”

Lisa and Clive Orchard from Bindon Bottom are now in their sixth season running the Purbeck B&B.

The couple said they were delighted with the accolades and said the best part of the job was getting to meet people from around the world and showing them the beautiful Jurassic Coast.

Lisa said: “We’re delighted with the award.”

Bernadette and Patrick Flynn from the Bay View Hotel in Weymouth said the secret to their success was just looking after people and making sure they were happy.

The couple said they catered mainly to older people, like themselves, and had a loyal customer base, many of who returned back each year.

Mrs Flynn said the couple had run the Bay View for 20 years now. She said: “I think it’s just looking after people and making sure they are comfortable and getting to know them and being friendly.”

She added: “We get to know people. It’s just generally being nice to people and treating people how we would like to be treated.”
