THIS could be your year– and we’ve got the perfect event to help kickstart your dreams.

Back by popular demand, the Dorset Echo Jobs Fair is taking place this Wednesday at Weymouth Pavilion.

And joining us will be a host of businesses giving top tips, advice and opportunities.

Now in its seventh year, the fair is designed to bring together employers and job-seekers into a relaxed and informative networking hub.

You can sign up for workshops and this year new businesses will be at the event, including New Look, The National Trust and McDonald’s.

We can also now confirm that The Prince’s Trust and Abbotsbury Tourism will be joining us too.

Each year more than 1,000 job-seekers attend to talk to businesses from across the career spectrum, as well as gaining advice and support.

Previous years have proved a massive success and the Jobs Fair is only going from strength to strength. Organisers are hoping to build on that success with a bigger and better event.

Deputy editor Samantha Harman said: “There’s no better time to take stock and think about your options than the start of the year, and this event brings together a host of local employers to help you on your way.

“As well as finding out about opportunities, you can also get advice on everything from your CV to qualifications.

“Every positive change starts with a small action, so why not make the Dorset Echo Jobs Fair the first step on your new career path?”

The Dorset Echo Jobs Fair, sponsored by Encompass, will take place on Wednesday, February 8 from 10am to 4pm.

David McArthur from the Jobs Centre said: “It’s a fact since 2010 we have seen local unemployment massively decrease, -60 per cent for youth unemployment and -50 per cent for all ages. With this fantastic jobs fair we are confident numbers will continue to decrease.

“Be a part and get hired.”

There are two workshops organised for the fair.

Best Training’s free Skills for Change workshops are designed to help job seekers learn how to identify and most importantly gain the new skills needed to be able to make the changes they want to achieve in their career.

The workshops are held at 11.30am or 1pm and will cover a range of topics, such as identifying your existing skills and training opportunities.
